ALIDP WORKSHOP (Additional Fee Applies) Ready, Aim, Fire: Strategies to Target and Achieve Resilience There are numerous drivers for implementing stormwater runoff volume targets, loading objectives, and other measures to achieve resilient outcomes. But when do you implement what and to what level of stringency? What are various jurisdictions across North America doing and why? What tools are being used and where should we go from here? Join us for an afternoon of presentations from jurisdictions across North America and opportunities to discuss the need for and merit of different approaches. Drivers to be considered include level of service, protection against overland flooding and surcharge conditions, fisheries and habitat protection, small stream and wetland protection, source water and groundwater protection, and prevention of harmful algae blooms. |
Sustainable Stormwater Management – A Pathway to Resilient Communities in the Wake of Climate Change
Monday, November 26, 2018 12:45 PM - 1:30 PM
Municipalities from across North America are continually tasked with meeting the needs of the changing stormwater landscape. In the wake of climate change, stormwater professionals must respond to flooding, water pollution and a lack of adequate funding. There is a need to revisit the current stormwater management policies and practices to develop a sustainable framework that yields climate resilient communities through adoption of green infrastructure and low impact development to mitigate ensuing risks. The panel comprised of climate change experts, water resource engineers as well as local and provincial government will discuss lessons learned, emerging trends and the future of stormwater. Sponsored by Graham Construction.
